Tecno has just unveiled its inaugural clamshell foldable smartphone, the Phantom V Flip. This innovative device boasts an external circular OLED display featuring two cameras and an LED flash embedded within the ring. Inside, it houses a spacious 6.9-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED screen.
Under the hood, the Phantom V Flip is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 8050 chipset, which boasts an octa-core CPU capable of reaching clock speeds of up to 3.0 GHz. It was initially introduced with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM, and users can expand the memory by an additional 8 GB using the Extended Memory software feature.
The foldable display, with a 22:9 aspect ratio, supports an impressive 120 Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Additionally, there is a handy 1.32-inch external display that offers various widgets, provides notifications, and even serves as a viewfinder for taking selfies with the more capable cameras.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of a 64 MP primary camera equipped with a 1/1.73-inch sensor and an f/1.7 aperture lens with PDAF. Complementing this is a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus capabilities. The internal camera, nestled within a punch hole, features a 32 MP sensor.
When unfolded, the device measures 171 mm in height and maintains an impressively slim profile of under 7 mm. Tecno has packed a substantial 4,000 mAh battery into the device, utilizing a two-cell solution for enhanced performance.
The phone supports 45W wired charging, with the adapter included in the retail package, and Tecno claims that just 15 minutes of charging can fill the battery halfway. Adding a unique touch, the Tecno Phantom V Flip comes with its own custom personal assistant known as EllaGPT, designed to provide intelligent features akin to Google, Siri, Bixby, or Celia.
Tecno offers the phone in two attractive colors, Black and Purple. During the announcement, the price was unveiled as INR 49,999, which translates to approximately $605 or €555. It has been revealed that in European markets, the device will be priced at €700, while other regions may have early-bird promotions with prices equivalent to around $650.
