In September of last year, Honor marked its return to the Indian market through HTech with the launch of the Honor 90, ending a three-year hiatus. Today, the brand continues its resurgence with the introduction of the Honor X9b, the second smartphone since its re-entry into India.
Powering the Honor X9b is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, featuring a robust 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. Operating on Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 out of the box, the device is set to receive an upgrade to Android 14-based MagicOS 8 in the latter half of 2024. Honor ensures two years of Android OS upgrades and a three-year commitment to security updates for the X9b.
The smartphone boasts a 6.78″ 120Hz 1.5K curved AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Honor emphasizes its “Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Display,” incorporating shock-absorbing material for enhanced protection, providing drop resistance of up to 1.5m. The display includes a centered punch-hole housing a 16MP camera and a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
On the rear, a circular island accommodates a formidable camera setup, including a 108MP primary lens, 5MP ultrawide with a 110° field of view, and a 2MP macro lens. The Sunset Orange variant’s rear panel employs eco-friendly vegan leather, aligning with Honor’s commitment to sustainability.
The Honor X9b achieves an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance and is fueled by a substantial 5,800 mAh battery with 35W charging support. Notably, the power adapter, valued at INR699 ($9/€8), will not be included in the retail package, but Honor plans to ship it as an introductory offer at no additional cost initially.
Scheduled for release on February 16, the Honor X9b will be available in Sunrise Orange and Midnight Black colors at a price of INR25,999 ($315/€290) through Honor’s official Indian website, Amazon.in, and mainline stores.
In addition to the smartphone launch, HTech also introduced the Honor Choice Watch in India. Featuring a 1.95″ 2.5D curved always-on AMOLED screen, this smartwatch offers health and fitness features, including heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and blood-oxygen level monitoring. Priced at INR6,499 ($78/€72), with an early adopter discount of INR500 ($6/€5), the Honor Choice Watch is set to hit the market on February 24.
Lastly, the Honor Choice Earbuds X5 TWS earphones, equipped with 10mm drivers and active noise canceling (ANC), were launched. Priced at INR1,999 ($24/€22), these earbuds promise up to 9 hours of continuous playback and 35 hours of battery life when paired with the charging case. The Honor Choice Earbuds X5 will be available starting February 16 through Honor’s online store, Amazon.in, and select mainland stores.
