Occasionally, our enthusiasm gets ahead of us – and it seems someone at German retailer Otto couldn’t contain their excitement for the impending launch of the Galaxy A55 and A35, as both phones are already up for sale on their online store. Officially, they weren’t slated to be unveiled until March, the scheduled launch date for Asia, though it’s the sole launch date confirmed by Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy A55 kicks off at PKR144272.06 for the base 128GB variant, with the 256GB option. Notably, Otto points out the presence of a microSD slot, allowing users to expand storage at a lower cost (albeit at slower speeds). Both models come equipped with 8GB of RAM.
Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy A35 also offers two variants – 6/128GB for PKR114215.38 and 8/256GB for PKR135255.06. Opting for the latter adds to double the storage capacity, coupled with an extra 2GB of RAM. Again, the microSD slot is available.
Key specifications as listed by the store include a 6.6” display for the Galaxy A55, contrary to the rumored 6.5”, although this could be an error. The device boasts a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display (19.5:9) with Gorilla Glass Victus protection and is powered by the new Exynos 1480 chipset. On the rear, you’ll find a 50MP main camera (1/1.56”), a 12MP ultra-wide (1/2.74”), a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP selfie shooter.
The Samsung Galaxy A35 also features a 120Hz 6.6” FHD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus, as per Otto’s specifications. It runs on the older Exynos 1380 chipset and boasts a similar camera setup, comprising a 50+8+5MP configuration, with a smaller 1/1.96” sensor for the main camera, and a 13MP selfie camera.
Both devices launch with Android 14, One UI 6.1, and Knox 3.1, alongside 5,000mAh batteries, aluminum bodies, and IP67 dust and water resistance ratings. They support dual SIMs with a hybrid SIM tray and eSIM, feature USB-C ports wired for v2.0 speeds, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and Bluetooth 5.3 (aptX, LDAC, and SSC). Assuming the specifications listed by the retailer are accurate (though the A55 display size may be in error), these phones align closely with expectations – albeit, their early appearance this week was unexpected.
