Starting from October of last year, there have been reports that the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will replace their traditional clickable volume keys with solid-state buttons that offer haptic feedback upon pressing. Additionally, the mute switch will be replaced by a multi-functional haptic button similar to the Action Button found on the Apple Watch Ultra.
However, due to technical issues, it was previously reported that Apple would be skipping these features on the 2023 Pro iPhones, but new CAD renders shared by 9to5Mac suggest that the Action Button will in fact be included in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Nonetheless, the previously leaked single piece of volume rocker will be replaced by separate mechanical volume buttons that are similar to those found on previous iPhones.
The new CAD renders also indicate that the camera bumps on these iPhones will not protrude as much as previous renders had suggested. In other news, a tipster by the name of Revegnus has stated that the production cost of the base iPhone 15 model is expected to increase by roughly 12%, while the Pro version is expected to increase by approximately 20%. The tipster believes that this cost increase may be due to a price hike by TSMC’s fab.
