vivo iQOO 12 Series Comes with Triple Camera and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The latest iQOO 12 series has just been launched, initially debuting in China. The iQOO 12 Pro and iQOO 12 share many similarities, differing primarily in design elements, display features, and battery capacities. Starting with the iQOO 12 Pro, it boasts a sleeker profile, featuring a slim frame and gracefully curved glass panels on both its front and rear. This model comes in three distinct colors, each presenting its unique finish.

The BMW Motorsport collaboration edition displays a white hue with a porcelain enamel textured glass. Meanwhile, the black variant showcases a fluorite AG glass back, offering a soft texture with a shimmering effect. Lastly, the red model presents a vegan leather finish, accompanied by what iQOO refers to as a “wind imprint texture.” The camera island on this model adopts a Paris hobnail texture akin to that seen on the new Xiaomi 14.

The iQOO 12 Pro is equipped with a 6.78-inch E7 AMOLED display, featuring a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels and a remarkable 144Hz refresh rate. This panel supports 1440Hz PWM dimming and boasts brightness levels of up to 1,600 nits under standard conditions and an impressive peak mode of 3,000 nits.

Designed with a focus on gaming capabilities, the iQOO 12 Pro hosts impressive specifications. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, accompanied by 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Additionally, it includes a self-developed Q1 chip, ensuring seamless gaming experiences up to 144Hz at 1080P.

This chip incorporates features such as low latency frame insertion, superframe technology, and super-resolution (similar to DLSS-like supersampling). To manage heat dissipation, the iQOO 12 Pro integrates a substantial 5,705mm² vapor chamber. The camera setup on the iQOO 12 Pro is notably robust. It features a primary sensor of 50MP, utilizing a 1/1.3″ OmniVision OV50H sensor paired with a 23mm optically stabilized lens.

Furthermore, the telephoto camera is equipped with a 64MP 1/2″ sensor and a stabilized 70mm f/2.57 lens. This optical 3x unit supports 10x ‘HD zoom’ and digital zoom capabilities of up to 100x. iQOO markets this periscope lens as a 70-230mm camera, highlighting its telephoto macro capabilities.

Additionally, the iQOO 12 Pro incorporates a 50MP 15mm ultrawide lens with its own macro mode, alongside a 16MP f/2.45 selfie camera. Powering these features is a robust 5,100mAh battery, supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. iQOO claims that the battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 cycles.

The iQOO 12 Pro operates on vivo’s new OriginOS 4, which is based on Android 14. Moving to the iQOO 12 model, it shares the same three color variants, each with its unique finish. However, the non-Pro version exhibits a broader, glossier frame and flat front and rear panels.

The iQOO 12 features identical chipsets and cameras to the Pro version but differs in its display, battery capacity, and charging capabilities. There’s also a variant available with 12GB of RAM. The iQOO 12 boasts a 6.78-inch display with a resolution of 2800×1260 pixels. Despite the lower resolution, the panel maintains the same 144Hz refresh rate as its Pro counterpart.

Regarding the battery, there are two options offered: a 5,000mAh unit and a 4,880mAh variant (with unclear differentiating features between the two). Both options support 120W wired charging, but there is no provision for wireless charging.

Both the iQOO 12 and 12 Pro are available for pre-order starting today and will officially go on sale on November 14. In terms of pricing, the iQOO 12 Pro starts at CNY 4,999/PKR197654.79 (€642) for the base model of 16/256GB, going up to CNY 5,499/PKR217424.22 (€707) for the 16/512GB model, and topping out at CNY 5,999/PKR237193.65 (€770) for the 16GB/1TB variant.

On the other hand, the iQOO 12 is priced at CNY 3,999/PKR158115.92 (€515) for the 12/256GB model, CNY 4,299/PKR169977.58 (€552) for the 16/512GB model, and CNY 4,699/PKR185793.13 (€605) for the 16GB/1TB version. Both models are expected to eventually be available in the global market.
