Fresh CAD-based renders of the Pixel 9 have emerged, indicating a potential shift in Google’s approach to its smartphone release schedule. Previous renders, unveiled in January, were purportedly of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models.
The latest images showcase a familiar design, akin to the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, featuring a flat metal frame and a redesigned camera island sporting an oval shape without melding into the frame, distinguishing it from previous Pixel generations.
According to the source, the Pixel 9 is expected to sport a 6.03-inch display, presumably with a 120Hz OLED panel, contrasting with the 6.1-inch screen of the Pixel 9 Pro and the 6.5-inch display of the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The vanilla Pixel 9 measures 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm. Notably, the Pixel 9 differs with a dual-camera setup, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL feature three cameras.
It appears that Google may adopt a novel strategy with the Pixel 9 series by concurrently launching three distinct models. The pricing strategy for these upcoming devices, as well as the fate of the Pixel A-series phones, remains uncertain. However, past Pixel series leaks suggest that further details may emerge in the coming months, with an anticipated official launch in October, aligning with Google’s typical flagship unveiling timeline.
