Introducing the latest addition to the V29 family – the vivo V29 Pro, which surpasses the standard vivo V29 with an extra camera and a faster chipset. This represents a notable upgrade over the V27 Pro released earlier this year.
What sets the V29 Pro apart from its siblings, and in fact, any other V-series phone, is the inclusion of a 12MP portrait camera. This camera boasts a 2x zoom lens with the ability to focus on subjects within the range of 0.5m to 2m (1.6-6.5ft) away. It incorporates the Sony IMX663 sensor with “all-pixel dual-core” autofocus, enhancing its performance in low-light conditions.
The primary camera remains consistent with the V29 and V27 Pro, featuring a 50MP IMX766 sensor (1/1.56″) behind an f/1.9 lens with optical image stabilization (OIS). The ultrawide camera maintains its 8MP configuration. Previously, a 2MP depth sensor was included, but the Pro has omitted it in favor of the portrait camera.
The Smart Aura Light, a ring-shaped LED flash (15.6mm in diameter), remains a feature, and it is now 36% brighter than the previous generation. This flash adjusts its color temperature to match the ambient light conditions. Consistent with the V-series tradition, the phone boasts an impressive selfie camera, a 50MP module with a relatively wide 92° lens, featuring autofocus and Eye AF to ensure your face remains sharp.
In terms of upgrades, when comparing the Pro to the standard V29, it features the Dimensity 8200 chipset, offering superior performance compared to the Snapdragon 778G, especially in the GPU department. When compared to the V27 Pro, which also employs the D8200 chip, the upgrade is in the charging speed – the 4,600mAh battery now supports 80W charging, up from 66W on the V27 Pro (the V29 also supports 80W charging).
Regarding the display, the curved 6.78″ screen is in line with the rest of the V29 series. It’s an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,800 pixels, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and an instant touch sampling rate of 1,000Hz. It achieves a peak brightness of 1,300 nits with 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, offering 16,000 brightness levels. This is a 10-bit display with full DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10+ certification, ensuring excellent image quality.
The V29 Pro boasts a sleek profile, measuring 7.46mm in thickness. The front glass curves at a 55° angle, leaving only a 2.4mm frame on the sides. The rear panel is also constructed from glass. Notably, the V29 Pro is manufactured in India.
The V29 Pro is available in two color options. The first, Himalayan Blue, incorporates nano-scale magnetic particles that add a sparkling effect to the light blue finish, reminiscent of the cloudy landscapes of the Himalayas. The alternative choice is the more standard Space Black.
The phone will soon be offered in two configurations: one with 8GB of RAM for INR 39,999 ($480) and another with 12GB of RAM for $515, both featuring 256GB of storage. The phone supports dual SIM cards but lacks a microSD slot. The retail package includes a USB-C cable, an 80W FlashCharge adapter, a SIM ejector tool, a quick start guide, a protective case, and a pre-applied screen protector.
