Last week, a report surfaced claiming that Xiaomi has secured exclusive first launch rights for Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC – Xiaomi 15. Today, a new rumor reveals when we can expect this launch. According to prolific leaker Digital Chat Station, the first device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is tentatively scheduled for release in mid-October.
If the earlier report about Xiaomi’s exclusivity holds true, this implies that the Xiaomi 15 (and possibly the 15 Pro) will be officially unveiled in mid-October. While we’re still several months away and things could change, it’s noteworthy that the Xiaomi 14 was announced on October 26 last year. Thus, a mid-October launch for the Xiaomi 15 would be just one to two weeks earlier, which is not unprecedented.
It’s important to note that this initial launch will likely be exclusive to the Chinese market, continuing the trend for Xiaomi’s flagship releases in recent years. For instance, the Xiaomi 14 was introduced internationally only in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s performance, Digital Chat Station suggests impressive benchmark scores, with a single-core score of around 2,700 and a multi-core score of approximately 10,000 on Geekbench. The new SoC is rumored to feature a CPU with two extra-large cores clocked between 3.6 and 4 GHz, promising significant performance improvements in both CPU and GPU capabilities.
This anticipated launch underscores Xiaomi’s strategic positioning and partnership with Qualcomm, aiming to push the boundaries of smartphone performance and innovation. As we approach the expected announcement date, more details and leaks are likely to emerge, providing a clearer picture of what the Xiaomi 15 series will offer.
