Xiaomi Redmi A3 Launching in Asia on February 14 with Bigger RAM and 90Hz Display

Xiaomi is set to unveil the Redmi A3 in Asia on February 14, confirming some key details about the upcoming budget phone. Recently, live images of the A3 were shared, showcasing a notable feature—a 6.71” 90Hz display, emphasizing its “butter-smooth” refresh rate on the mi.com landing page.

While the Redmi A-series is known for its affordability in the Android market, the company has upgraded the RAM to 6GB (with an additional 6GB of virtual RAM), deviating from the initially leaked 4GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. This suggests a new tier for the device, as the Redmi A2+ previously maxed out at 4/128GB and started at 2/32GB.

Further enhancements include a consistent 5,000mAh battery capacity, but the charging method has shifted to USB-C from the previous microUSB used in the A2/A2+. The charging speed, however, remains unspecified, leaving it assumed to be at the existing 10W rate. The leaked images also unveil the phone’s fresh design featuring a substantial circular camera island, termed by Xiaomi as the “All-New Premium Halo Design.”

While the price of the Redmi A3 is yet to be disclosed, Xiaomi is expected to reveal it next week. For context, the Redmi A2 was priced at PKR20963.05 for the 2/32GB variant and PKR28283.48 for the 4/128GB model, which replaced the initial 4/64GB version a few months later. Xiaomi plans to release the Redmi A3 beyond Asia, with specific details about its availability in other regions yet to be announced.
