Xiaomi has officially introduced the budget-friendly Redmi A3 smartphone, showcasing a distinctive leather-like finish on its rear design. Boasting a spacious display featuring a 90 Hz refresh rate, the Redmi A3 runs on the latest Android 14 operating system, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the A2, which operated on the Android 13 Go edition.
Under the hood, the Redmi A3 is equipped with the Helio G36 chipset, mirroring its predecessor, but with enhanced RAM options. Users can now choose between 3 GB, 4 GB, or 6 GB RAM configurations, a notable advancement from the 2/3/4 GB options available in its forerunner. This additional memory prompted Xiaomi to opt for the full Android 14 experience, marking a departure from the Go edition previously utilized.
Featuring a 6.71-inch LCD with HD+ resolution, the Redmi A3 ensures a smooth visual experience with its 90 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Notably, the absence of an under-display fingerprint scanner has led to the integration of a side-mounted sensor atop the power key. A subtle waterdrop notch on the panel accommodates the 5 MP selfie camera.
The rear camera setup consists of an 8 MP main shooter housed within a circular module, alongside an unspecified auxiliary snapper and an LED flash. Powering the device is a robust 5,000 mAh battery with support for 10W charging through the USB-C port. The inclusion of a 3.5 mm audio jack adds to the device’s versatility.
Available in three color options – Olive Green, Midnight Black, and Lake Blue – the Redmi A3 caters to various aesthetic preferences. Pricing starts at ($87/€82/PKR24081.93) for the 3/64 GB variant, ($100/€93/PKR27680.38) for the 4/128 GB model, and ($111/€104/PKR30725.22) for the 6/128 GB variant.
Xiaomi has slated the commencement of sales for the Redmi A3 on February 23, with availability on mi.com, and select Mi Home retail stores. As consumers eagerly anticipate its release, the Redmi A3 promises an attractive combination of affordability and feature-rich specifications.
