The Xiaomi Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ were announced in March and are now scheduled to make their debut in Asia on May 19. This information was revealed by Redmi through a teaser on Twitter, announcing the upcoming launch of the Redmi A2 series in Asia next Friday at 11 AM local time.
Although the company did not explicitly mention the Redmi A2 or A2+, the use of the term “series” and the inclusion of the Redmi A2+’s image on the promotional page of Xiaomi’s official website confirm that both the Redmi A2 and A2+ will be launched in Asia next week.
The Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ are essentially the same devices, with the latter featuring a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both phones are powered by the Helio G36 SoC, feature 6.52″ HD+ LCD displays, and are equipped with 5,000 mAh batteries.
They have 8MP primary cameras on the rear, accompanied by depth units, while the front-facing cameras utilize 5MP sensors. While the Redmi A2 and A2+ come pre-installed with Android 12 (Go Edition), the units released in Asia will come with Android 13 out of the box.
