A recent report suggests that Xiaomi is planning to launch its 14 Ultra flagship, featuring a new camera setup within a familiar design. Another leakster has hinted at the authenticity of a bright f/1.63 aperture, indicating that the phone might be unveiled at the end of February.
This timeline coincides with MWC 2024 in Barcelona, where Xiaomi is expected to reveal the 14 Ultra alongside the international launch of the 14 and 14 Pro. The company has confirmed its participation in the conference, where it will showcase new home devices, and there are expectations to see the unveiling of the Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle.
Rumors about the 14 Ultra’s variable aperture have circulated for some time, featuring a two-stop lens switching between f/1.6 and f/4.0, similar to the 14 and 14 Pro with their f/1.4-4.0 solution. The phone is rumored to include an LYT-900 sensor, a 1”-type platform from Sony.
Xiaomi has also certified a camera kit for the 14 Ultra, resembling its predecessor. Notably, this version might serve as an external battery, potentially significantly enhancing the device’s battery life. Official confirmation of all details is expected with the official announcement next month.
Expected to be unveiled next month, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is generating significant anticipation as one of the most awaited phones of 2024. This speculation gains further support from a recent Geekbench listing. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, identified by the model number Xiaomi 24030PN60G and codenamed “aurora,” showcased impressive performance metrics on Geekbench 4.
It achieved a single-core score of 9,317 and a multi-core score of 26,523. It’s worth noting that these numbers might be inflated, as they were generated using the older Geekbench 4 test instead of the current Geekbench 6 version. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, boasting a base frequency of 2.26 GHz.
The listing also reveals that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will come with 16GB of RAM and is expected to run on Android 14, likely with Xiaomi’s HyperOS layered on top. Rumored specifications for the 14 Ultra include a 1-inch type Sony LYT-900 main sensor with a variable aperture, a 1440p curved AMOLED display, and an impressive 80W wireless charging capability.
