On Monday, the vivo X90s will make its debut, and we are aware that the phone will maintain the design of the vivo X90 but will introduce a new color option, replacing the previous Blue variant with Green. Today, the device made an appearance on JD.com, and although the price remains undisclosed, we were able to gather information about the memory configurations: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage.
The X90s is evidently an updated version of the X90, and it seems that vivo has decided to offer only UFS 4.0 storage options for this release, as the previous 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant featuring UFS 3.1 is no longer listed among the upcoming flagship models.
Regarding similarities, we can expect the vivo X90s to inherit the 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a sizable under-display fingerprint scanner. The notable difference will be the inclusion of the new Dimensity 9200+ chipset, which boasts higher CPU and GPU clocks while maintaining low power consumption.

The vivo X90 series includes three phones: the X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+. However, there is now more information available about the upcoming vivo X90S, which is expected to be released soon. According to rumors, the X90S will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, which is yet to be officially announced but is anticipated to be unveiled on May 10. This information has been confirmed through a listing on the Google Play Console.
The Google Play Console listing reveals that the X90S will be equipped with the MediaTek MT6985 chipset, which is believed to be the internal name for the Dimensity 9200+ SoC. The listing provides details about the processor configuration, indicating that it will feature an ARM Cortex-X3 prime core clocked at 3.05 GHz, along with 3x Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz and 4x Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at 1.8 GHz. The GPU component of the chipset will be the ARM Mali G715.
Notably, MediaTek’s upcoming chipset recently achieved a higher Geekbench score compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Additional specifications mentioned in the listing include a display resolution of 1260 × 2800 pixels with a punch hole cutout, 12GB of RAM, and the presence of Android 13 on the firmware side.
The vivo X90 series is preparing to welcome a new addition, this time featuring the Dimensity 9200+ chipset. Following its appearance on the Google Play Console recently, it has now caught the attention of Digital Chat Station, a prolific Chinese leaker. According to the information shared by the leaker, the upcoming X90S will be a relatively minor update in terms of hardware, with the chipset being the primary notable change.
The vivo X90S is expected to boast a CPU clocked at 3.35 GHz and support for Wi-Fi 7, thanks to the new Mediatek System-on-Chip (SoC). The device will retain its 6.78-inch OLED display with curved edges and a resolution of 1260p, manufactured once again by BOE.
According to the leak, the main camera will feature a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor, the same as the current vivo X90 model, accompanied by the in-house V2 ISP (Image Signal Processor). The charging speed will also remain unchanged at 120W. However, the transition to the Dimensity 9300 chipset will take place with the vivo X100 series, expected to be launched in November 2023.
As for the battery capacity, the X90 model featured a 4,810mAh battery. It remains uncertain whether vivo will follow the pattern observed in the vivo X60 and vivo X60s generation, where the “S” model came with a larger battery.
