Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 in Thailand, and we recently received the phone at our headquarters for review. While the entry-level smartphone may not be widely available yet, there are indications that it could soon be introduced in Pakistan.
According to Xiaomiui, the phone will come with market-specific software version V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM. With the customized software now finalized, it is now up to Redmi Asia to schedule a launch event for the local audience.
The software is specifically tailored for the Asian market. In our case, the device we are reviewing is intended for the European market, as denoted by the “EU” letters in the same position. Differences between market-specific versions typically involve available languages and certain details specific to each market, such as the default browser and the inclusion or exclusion of certain preinstalled apps.
Featuring a Helio G88 chipset and up to 8 GB of RAM, the Redmi 12 is a capable smartphone designed for markets with a strong emphasis on LTE connectivity. It is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP main camera. The expected price for European customers is around €200/PKR60254.73. It is possible that customers in Asia may obtain it at a lower price, but we will have to wait for the official launch to confirm this information.
