Realme has recently introduced the C53 smartphone in Malaysia, targeting the entry-level market with an affordable and spacious device. The handset is already available for purchase through Lazada at a price of MYR 550, offering a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. For comparison, the slightly more capable C55 is priced at MYR 700/PKR43560.61 with the same memory configuration.
Here’s an interesting tidbit: the Realme C53 is essentially identical to the Realme Narzo N53, which was launched in Asia a few weeks ago. The Asian variant had a base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model was priced at $133/PKR38237.50. However, the price of the C53 in US dollars is slightly lower at $120/PKR34500.00. Let’s take a look at what you get for that amount.
The Realme C53 features a large 6.74-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The front houses an 8MP selfie camera within a teardrop notch, and the Realme UI enhances the user experience with Dynamic Island-like notifications. Additionally, there’s a side-mounted fingerprint reader for convenient unlocking.
On the rear, you’ll find a basic 50MP primary camera capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps. Interestingly, the selfie camera doesn’t match the rear camera’s capabilities, as it tops out at 720p video recording at 30fps. There’s also a secondary depth sensor on the back.
Despite its relatively large dimensions (167.3 x 76.7mm), the phone maintains a reasonably thin profile of 7.5mm and a light weight of 182g. It houses a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 33W SuperVOOC charging, which enables a 1-50% charge in just 31 minutes with the included charger. The bottom of the phone features a 3.5mm headphone jack as the wired connection option.
Powering the phone is the Unisoc T612, a 12nm chipset comprising 2x Cortex-A75 and 6x A55 cores, along with a Mali-G57 GPU. As mentioned earlier, it is paired with 6GB of RAM, which can be augmented using virtual RAM. The 128GB of internal storage can also be expanded using microSD cards.
Worth noting is that the phone is a dual-SIM 4G device, and its card slot provides three spots, allowing for a second phone line without sacrificing additional storage. The Realme C53 can be found on Lazada for MYR 550/PKR34226.19, as well as on Shopee, where the phone is currently listed at MYR 600/PKR37337.66. Customers can choose between two color options: Champion Gold and Mighty Black.
