Motorola has unveiled the Edge 40, completing its Edge 40 family of smartphones. The Edge 40 is not only equipped with impressive specifications but also boasts a high-quality design that is aesthetically pleasing.
Available in two finishes, the Edge 40 offers an acrylic option in Blue and a vegan leather option in Black or Green. The vegan leather models weigh 171g, while the acrylic variant is lighter at 167g. All three options are IP68 certified, ensuring water and dust resistance. Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 relies on the powerful 6nm Dimensity 8020 chipset paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It also provides a generous 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The front of the Motorola Edge 40 showcases a 6.55-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. Notably, it features a high 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling, and HDR10+ support. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro was announced approximately a month ago, but the standard Edge 40 did not receive a similar announcement. However, leaked images and a promo video have surfaced, providing insight into the device’s features. The standard Edge 40 resembles the Pro model, but only has two cameras on the back.
According to the leaks, the phone will come in black, green, and red versions, with vegan leather casing. The promo video also indicates that the device will feature the widest aperture on a smartphone, potentially IP68 waterproof protection, a curved display design, and Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers.
Based on the rumors, the phone is expected to be the first device powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8020, supporting a 6.55-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by a 4,400 mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging.
