Google is set to reveal its Pixel 8 series tomorrow, and although there have been numerous leaks, we’ve got one more for you. M. Brandon Lee from This is Tech Today has shared multiple images of the Pixel 8 Pro in action with the Device Info HW and AIDA64 apps, unveiling detailed specifications about the new Tensor G3 chip.
The Tensor G3 chip boasts a 9-core CPU configuration, comprising a high-performance Cortex-X3 prime core running at 2.91 GHz, 4 Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.37 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A510 cores operating at 1.7 GHz. Another noteworthy feature is the inclusion of the Mali-G715 GPU and 12GB of RAM. The Tensor G3 chip is manufactured using Samsung’s advanced 4nm process technology and incorporates the FO-WLP packaging process, promising reduced heat generation and enhanced power efficiency when compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G2.
In addition to the chipset details, the latest leak confirms the presence of a Goodix optical fingerprint scanner integrated into the display panel. The Pixel 8 Pro is anticipated to launch with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED screen, offering QHD+ resolution and a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate. On the rear, you can expect a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a new 48MP ultrawide camera.
On the software front, the device is expected to run on Android 14, and it will be available in Obsidian, Sky Blue, and Porcelain color options. The Pixel 8 Pro is slated to have a starting price of $899 in the United States and £999 in the United Kingdom.

On October 4, Google is set to unveil its Pixel 8 duo. We’re already familiar with the phone’s design, and reports have indicated a potential price increase in Continental Europe. Today, information about the expected prices in the United Kingdom and the United States has surfaced online, along with some key specifications for the two phones.
The Pixel 8 is anticipated to start at £699/$699 and will come equipped with 8 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to be priced at £999 in the UK, but only $899 in the US, featuring a new LTPO OLED screen. As for the Pixel Watch 2, it is expected to be priced at £349.
The standard Pixel 8 appears to offer a modest improvement over its predecessor while retaining the same camera setup. The most significant upgrade is likely to come from the Tensor G3 chipset, which promises enhanced processing power. Additionally, both smartphones will feature an updated sensor for the front-facing camera.
In the case of the Pixel 8 Pro, there’s a new 48 MP ultrawide camera, replacing the 12 MP sensor found in the Pixel 7 Pro; however, this 12 MP sensor will still be present in the non-Pro version. The standout color choice for the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to be Blue, as seen in several promotional materials, and this time, the third camera will be integrated into the oval design alongside the other two cameras.

One notable absence in Google’s recent smartphone lineup has been gimmicks, particularly the kind that Google is known for – those that come and go quickly, like the Soli radar, for example. However, with that being said, it may come as a pleasant surprise to hear that the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to include an infrared thermometer on the back, positioned under the circular LED Flash within the camera bump.
The thermometer will have the capability to measure body temperature, utilizing a sensor similar to the ones found in most contactless thermometers (which may remind you of the pandemic). To use the thermometer sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro, you simply need to bring it close to your forehead without making direct contact with your skin. Then, by tapping the start button and moving the phone towards your temple within five seconds, the phone will vibrate to signal the completion of the temperature measurement.
Now, you might be wondering about the usability of this feature considering that the screen is located on the other side of the phone – the side that isn’t facing you in this scenario. Unfortunately, we can’t provide an answer at the moment because there was a video demonstrating how the feature works, but it was uploaded to YouTube and subsequently removed for violating the platform’s Terms of Service. It doesn’t sound like the most user-friendly experience, but in the event of another pandemic, you’ll be equipped to scan people around you with just your Pixel 8 Pro, without the need for additional hardware.
It’s important to note that this intriguing new feature will only be available on the Pro model of the Pixel 8, so if you’re considering saving some money and opting for the regular Pixel 8, you won’t have access to it. The Pixel 8 Pro is anticipated to be unveiled alongside the Pixel 8 in October, and both smartphones are rumored to be powered by Google’s own Tensor G3 SoC. The Pixel 8 Pro is said to have a slightly smaller screen than its predecessor, measuring 6.52 inches, and it is expected to feature Samsung’s largest ISOCELL GN2 sensor for its main camera.
