As per information provided by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has intentions to introduce a more affordable variant of its Vision Pro headset, potentially scheduled for a release in 2025. This decision stems from the recognition that the current price tag of $3,499 poses significant limitations, rendering the Vision Pro unsuitable for widespread adoption.
According to Gurman’s report, Apple initially contemplated delaying the announcement of the Vision Pro’s pricing due to negative public reception. However, the company decided to allow a nine-month period for people to become accustomed to the price.
In contrast, the forthcoming headset, likely named simply Vision or Vision One, will be designed with the goal of achieving mass adoption. Apple may opt for lower-tier screens, a less powerful chip, reduce the number of cameras, or possibly require the use of AirPods for the spatial audio feature.
Nevertheless, Apple intends to preserve certain key features, such as the external EyeSight screen and the hand-tracking system. It is currently believed that Apple aims to release this new headset in 2025, while simultaneously working on the development of a second-generation Vision Pro.
