Samsung has officially unveiled its latest smartphone for the South Korean market, albeit not under the familiar Galaxy M44 name. Rebranded as the Galaxy Jump 3 in that region, this device appears to be identical to what is anticipated to soon hit the international market as the M44. Clues within the SM-M446KZKAKTC model number strongly suggest it’s an M44 variant under an alternate moniker.
In terms of aesthetics, the design follows the typical Samsung mid-range blueprint for late 2023. It features a rear setup with three circular camera islands and a circular LED flash positioned between the uppermost and middle cameras. The front display sports either a V or U-shaped notch (undetermined as yet), accompanied by a notably thicker bottom bezel compared to the rest of the device.
These design elements are within expectations. However, what sets this device apart significantly is the chipset it employs—the Snapdragon 888. This particular System on a Chip (SoC) debuted back in 2020. One might speculate that Samsung might have had surplus units stockpiled, now choosing to integrate them into this device.
For individuals not keen on the Exynos 1xxx series, this news could be a relief. Despite its age, the Snapdragon 888 was the pinnacle of Android chipsets during its time, suggesting performance levels beyond the usual expectations for an M4x series device.
The South Korean launch of the Galaxy M44 accompanies this chipset with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, a 6.58-inch 1080×2408 PLS LCD display boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate, a primary rear camera of 50 MP complemented by two 2 MP sensors, a 13 MP front-facing camera, and a substantial 5,000 mAh battery. Its dimensions measure 167.7 x 78 x 9.1 mm, weighing in at 216g.
