Motorola has just introduced the 2024 editions of its budget-friendly 5G smartphones – the Moto G Power 5G and Moto G – set to hit the shelves in the US and Canada by the end of this month or early next month.
The Moto G Power 5G (2024) flaunts a larger 6.7-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, a notable increase from the previous model. Both phones feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and 3.5mm headphone jacks.
Notably, the camera setup sees significant enhancements. The primary 50MP camera now boasts Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide sensor that also functions as a macro camera. The front camera houses a 16MP sensor.
Under the hood, the Moto G Power 5G runs on the Dimensity 7020 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM (expandable with up to 8GB of virtual RAM) and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The battery receives a substantial upgrade, maintaining the 5,000mAh capacity but doubling the wired charging speed to 30W and adding 15W wireless charging support, marking the first instance of wireless charging in the Moto G lineup.
US carriers will start offering the Moto G Power 5G from April, with an unlocked version available at Motorola.com, Amazon US, and Best Buy US for $300. Canadian availability is slated for April 12.
Meanwhile, the Moto G (2024) debuts as Motorola’s first phone to feature the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, delivering improved performance. Sporting 4GB of RAM (expandable with up to 4GB of virtual RAM) and 128GB of storage, this budget 5G model retains a microSD slot for expandable storage.
The display remains unchanged from the previous model, featuring a 6.6-inch LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate but only HD+ resolution. Camera specifications see minimal changes, with the primary 50MP sensor and a dedicated macro camera.
US carriers will offer the Moto G (2024) from April, with unlocked units available from May 2 through Motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy US for $200. Canadian availability is also set for May 2 via Motorola.ca, followed by availability through local carriers.
