According to tipster Digital Chat Station on their Weibo page, the upcoming iQOO Z9 series is set to feature an OLED panel. The midrange Z line, owned by vivo, initially adopted LCD screens upon its launch in mid-2020.
However, it made the switch to OLED for the iQOO Z7 series, only to revert back to LCD with the Z8 family. The forthcoming phones are also expected to bring an enhanced 1220p resolution, referred to by Chinese manufacturers as “1.5K” due to its positioning between Full HD and QHD (1440p).
The most recent smartphones in the iQOO Z series currently available are the Z8 and Z8x models. Both devices are equipped with a 4 nm chipset, with the Z8 boasting a more powerful configuration featuring a 3.1 GHz CPU and a 64 MP camera.
On the other hand, the Z8x comes with a larger battery capacity of 6,000 mAh. Typically, the release cycle for an iQOO Z lineup spans around six months. As a result, it is anticipated that the iQOO Z9, featuring its new OLED display, could make its debut by the end of February.
