Recently, the spotlight was on the iPhone 16 Pro with leaked cases revealing a rumored Capture button on its side. Today, attention turns to the non-Pro models as new case leaks offer insights into the design of the 16 and 16 Plus.
These latest leaks corroborate speculations surrounding a redesigned camera island for the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Notably, the familiar diagonal arrangement within a squircle-ish shape is replaced by a vertical camera bump. In this new configuration, the two sensors are positioned one below the other, with the LED flash array centered to the right.
The prototypes for the non-Pro OS 16 models depict a distinct pill-shaped raised surface housing two separate rings for the cameras, evoking comparisons to the design aesthetics of the iPhone X. This rearrangement serves a functional purpose, facilitating spatial video recording, a feature expected to debut with the new handsets launching this fall.
Additionally, rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 and Plus will inherit features from their predecessors, such as the Action Button from the iPhone 15 Pro and a pressure-sensitive Capture button anticipated for the 16 Pro.
Given the early stage of the iPhone design cycle, it’s crucial to acknowledge that these details are subject to change before the expected September release of the phones. As anticipation mounts, enthusiasts eagerly await further developments and official announcements from Apple.
