If you were curious about the official availability of the long-anticipated OnePlus Open, which happens to be the company’s inaugural foldable device, in India, your curiosity can now be put to rest. OnePlus has initiated its teaser campaign for the Open in India, and it’s not unfolding in the way you might have expected.
This campaign doesn’t involve a conventional social media post announcing an impending announcement or anything of that sort. Instead, OnePlus opted for a rather unconventional approach by providing an Open to Indian actress Anushka Sharma and having her seemingly “inadvertently” display it to the paparazzi at various junctures.
Of course, this scenario appears to be meticulously staged. Sharma appears to be holding the phone rather awkwardly, opens it in an unconventional manner, and throughout the entire episode, neither of the screens displays any content. It’s uncertain whether the phone was turned off or if it might have been just a prop. In any case, Sharma certainly wouldn’t handle her own phone in this manner.
One must commend OnePlus for deviating from the expected marketing approach, even though celebrity endorsements, both internationally and in India, are a well-established strategy. Nonetheless, this unique presentation provides us with our most extensive “hands-on” video look at the device to date, confirming that the leaked information about the substantial circular camera island is indeed accurate, reminiscent of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s design. The latest rumors suggest that the OnePlus Open is set to be officially launched next month, following a delay from the initial timeline, which was attributed to a change in screen panels.
